Cheap Nails? No Thanks.

Now ladies, we've all been guilty of purchasing cheap nail polish. Hey, I love a bargain just as much as the next person (perhaps even more so..) but it doesn't make it okay. Let's stop this, let's stop falling for the cheaper brands - tho there are some good ones, like N.Y.C and Sally Hansen (tho, could you call Hansen cheap?).

My agenda in this post is to get you to "invest" in some good quality nail polish **and quality doesn't mean expensive, lets just get that out there*** Buying nail polish from a $2 store or diving for the bottom shelf at a drug store isn't okay, really, it's not. Especially when you can pick up cheap genuine products on eBay and TradeMe. I'm not asking you to buy Chanel because we can't all afford gold plated nails now, can we?

While cheaper nail polishes can be enticing with not only their fantastic price tag but also their stunning colours, you have to take into account the chemicals often used in the cheaper brands aren't always that great for your nails. These sometimes harsh chemicals can lead to serious breakage and splits in the nail, there is also the dreaded yellowing of the nail, which is so not hot - of course this can also happen in the more expensive of nail polishes, it's all about the prep! You also have to take into account that the cheaper brands often chip easier, which as you'll know, is extremely annoying after only a day's wear.

So what you really need to ask yourself when going for the cheaper option is; is this colour worth maybe sacrificing the health of my nail for?

So girls, don't buy into the false economy of the cheaper nail polish, spend a little extra and buy a good quality brand. You can often find the same colours in the more expensive brands, so there's no excuse and your nails will thank you for it!

My first two fantastic finds!

Firstly: Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer.

What a mouthful, but such a life changing primer.

Ever since I tried Auto Pilot Primer I have been a convert!
I've found with my sensitive skin that Auto Pilot has soothed my skin, leaving it feeling fab.

To use you only need a dab the size of an five cent coin, and you apply it with either your foundation brush or your fingers. I prefer the brush as when you apply the foundation over the top it helps it glide on, and helps blend. Importantly, you must apply your foundation while the primer is still wet. Damp is fine. This is a life saver if you are always late like me, as other primers I have tried require waiting until they dry, which takes up precious primping time!

You will find that you will over use this the first few time, but remember, a little really does go a long way in this case!

You can pick Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer up at most Farmers stores, and if you are lucky and live in the North Island at Napleon Perdis Concept Stores.
For all you other Ladies, you can pick some up here Napoleon Perdis' Website.

For Fantastic Product Number Two, I have chosen my newest Mascara find.

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Mascara.

If you have ever gone to bed with out taking your mascara off you know of the dred when you wakeup and your face resembles a panda's. Well with this little gem you will never wake up with that issue again. And best of all it isn't a nasty waterproof mascara! (Don't get me wrong but waterproof has its places, but not everyday!)

Mirenesse has developed this awesome technology which actually wraps your lashes (yes its like mascara giving your lashes a bear hug!) with tubes of colour.
And best of all it washes off completely (and I mean COMPLETELY!!) with out makeup remover. Just dab a warm wet face cloth onto your eyes and then with your fingers slide the tubes right off. Sounds creepy, but it is genious and also saves ruining your face cloths with mascara residue.

I also really love the fact that My lashes do not clump, and that the mascara builds really well.
TIP: Start off buy applying Secret Weapon to one eye at a time if you want thicker defined lashes, because this is a water based formula it dries quite fast, and if you try and re-coat dried lashes you will look clumpy, and no one wants that!

Mirenesse is not available in stores, but is online at Mirenesse's Webpage. And If you think this is too good to be true, Mirenesse offer free samples (which are also perfect for travelling) which you only have to pay a small P&P fee.
Try it! With a deal like this you would be silly not to!

Kisses!

Chrissie
