Cheap Nails? No Thanks.
Now ladies, we've all been guilty of purchasing cheap nail polish. Hey, I love a bargain just as much as the next person (perhaps even more so..) but it doesn't make it okay. Let's stop this, let's stop falling for the cheaper brands - tho there are some good ones, like N.Y.C and Sally Hansen (tho, could you call Hansen cheap?).
My agenda in this post is to get you to "invest" in some good quality nail polish **and quality doesn't mean expensive, lets just get that out there*** Buying nail polish from a $2 store or diving for the bottom shelf at a drug store isn't okay, really, it's not. Especially when you can pick up cheap genuine products on eBay and TradeMe. I'm not asking you to buy Chanel because we can't all afford gold plated nails now, can we?
While cheaper nail polishes can be enticing with not only their fantastic price tag but also their stunning colours, you have to take into account the chemicals often used in the cheaper brands aren't always that great for your nails. These sometimes harsh chemicals can lead to serious breakage and splits in the nail, there is also the dreaded yellowing of the nail, which is so not hot - of course this can also happen in the more expensive of nail polishes, it's all about the prep! You also have to take into account that the cheaper brands often chip easier, which as you'll know, is extremely annoying after only a day's wear.
So what you really need to ask yourself when going for the cheaper option is; is this colour worth maybe sacrificing the health of my nail for?
So girls, don't buy into the false economy of the cheaper nail polish, spend a little extra and buy a good quality brand. You can often find the same colours in the more expensive brands, so there's no excuse and your nails will thank you for it!
